How Drinking More Water can Benefit You

Drinking at least 8 glasses of filtered water a day helps to:

  • Hydrate your skin and clarify your complexion
  • Lubricate your joints
  • Promote normal digestion and nutrient absorption
  • Promote normal bowel movements
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Aid in weight loss by promoting a feeling of fullness
  • May help to stop dehydration-related headaches
  • Boost your immune system
  • Give you more energy
  • Flush out unwanted toxins
  • Reduce bloating

Water is one of the most important nutrients. It makes up 82% of our blood, 75% of our muscle, 25% of bone, 76% of brain tissue, and 90% of lung tissue. Safe, clean water keeps all of these vital organs functioning efficiently.

I recommend drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. (Better yet drinking half your body’s weight in ounces). If your weight is 150 pounds, you should be drinking 75 ounces of water for the day. That is 9 glasses and 3 ounces.

Ways to get your water in Daily:

  1. Drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning.
  2. Take a bottle with you for your commute to work/school.
  3. Drink another cup at your midmorning break.
  4. Drink another cup before lunch; it will help fill you up and may help curb your appetite.
  5. Drink another cup at your afternoon break. This may stop you from filling up on “empty calorie” snacks from the vending machine.
  6. Drink another glass to curb your eating urge after work/school.
  7. Before dinner, drink another glass to cut down on the amount of food you eat.
  8. Drink another glass to help energize you for your evening activities.
  9. Have another glass of water an hour or two before you go to bed.

Water Guide for Exercise/Activities Days follow this guide:

  1. Drink 8 ounces before you exercise.
  2. During exercise drink 4-6 ounces every 10-15 minutes.
  3. Drink 8-10 ounces of water immediately following exercise.
