Sweet Potato Appetizer Spread Recipe

Looking for an appetizer to take to a Holiday party or family gathering? This sweet potato spread is delicious. Serve it on saltine crackers or toasted pita triangles.


  • 1 medium sweet potato
  • Nonstick vegetable spray
  • 1-tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Directions how to prepare:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Wash the sweet potato and spray with vegetable spray.
  3. Bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes until tender. (You could bake it in Microwave until tender, approximately 6 Minutes).
  4. Scoop out the sweet potato pulp.
  5. In a food processor combine the pulp, butter, and milk, and process until pureed.
  6. Fold in the thyme.
  7. Use as a spread while still hot.

Yields 6 to 8 servings
