A study investigated the long-term effects of what Americans eat, and then the committee studied the relationship of this average diet and the nation’s major killers---heart disease, cancers of the colon and breast, stroke, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, and cirrhosis of the liver. They concluded that if Americans modified their rich diets, there would be an eighty percent drop in the number of obese people, a twenty-five percent drop in deaths from heart disease, a 50 percent drop in deaths from diabetes, and 1-percent annual increase in longevity.
Very often you see new studies that demonstrate the dangers of fats and cholesterol and the importance of fiber and various nutrients, such as calcium, in the diet. Another study, which was the largest of its kind, showed the dangers of women eating a high calorie, high fat diet was three times more likely to develop breast cancer than those whose intake of these substances was lower. A diet high in fat, cholesterol, and calories has been definitely linked to the major lifestyle diseases.
This program is tailored for at risk intervention of the diseases listed above and for those who want to minimize and prevent development of the disease. It requires staying on the program for a minimum of 3-6 months with weekly follow up visits to discuss progress/challenges. Session duration – 15 to 30 minutes long.
